Radical Islamic terror struck the streets of New York City yet again on Monday but fortunately, no one was killed or seriously injured. Well, no one important. The attacker is currently in the hospital recovering.
From Fox News:
A Bangladeshi man — reportedly inspired by ISIS — set off a pipe bomb inside New York’s Port Authority bus terminal during rush hour Monday morning, sowing mass chaos but causing few injuries — likely because the “attempted terrorist” detonated his “low-tech device” prematurely.
Akayed Ullah, 27, set off the “effectively low-tech device” in a subway passageway just before 7:30 a.m., New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a news conference. Ullah, who lived in Brooklyn, suffered burns and wounds to his abdomen and hands, and appeared to be the only person seriously injured in the pipe bomb explosion, authorities said.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, we are now learning more about what the family has to say. Apparently, they are upset with the police.
Make sure you are sitting down for this one. The great Joe Simonson has the details.
From The Daily Caller:
The family of Akayed Ullah, the suspect behind Monday morning’s failed suicide bombing at the New York City Port Authority Bus Terminal, expressed “outrage” by the actions of law enforcement.
“We are heartbroken by the violence that was targeted at our city today, and by the allegations being made against a member of our family,” Albert Fox Cahn, the legal director for CAIR New York, stated on behalf of the Ullah family, WABC reported Monday.
“But we are also outraged by the behavior of law enforcement officials who have held children as small as four years old out in the cold and who held a teenager out of high school classes to interrogate him without a lawyer, without his parents,” the family said. “These are not the sorts of actions that we expect from our justice system, and we have every confidence that our justice system will find the truth behind this attack and that we will, in the end, be able to learn what occurred today.”
Pulling a kid out of class and letting a small child be cold for a little. That’s what we are choosing to focus on here? Yikes. Gives you some interesting insight into the kind of people this guy was surrounding himself with. Not exactly a crew that is too tough on terrorism.
It sounds like this attack could have been worse if this terrorist had been even remotely competent.
From The Daily Mail:
Authorities say that if the explosive had fully detonated in the busy Midtown Manhattan subway station, there would have been more injuries and doubtless loss of life.
The attack came days after Ullah’s Brooklyn neighbors say they heard a huge row coming from his home, reporting yelling and screaming over the past two nights.
Ullah, who was allowed to stop and pray multiple times during his interrogation, was taken to Bellevue Hospital to be treated for serious burns and lacerations to his abdomen and hands but is expected to survive. At the hospital, the Brooklyn resident told investigators that he was inspired to carry out the attack by the recent flare ups between Israelis and Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Let’s be glad this couldn’t have been worse and maybe this will help more people realize that chain migration, the reason this guy was even here, is not a good policy.
