In a predictably sad development for Democrats, they are now considering countering Republican Donald Trump in the 2020 election with former talk show host Oprah Winfrey. Their logic is that if voters liked one person who was on TV, then they will like another person who was on TV.
This idea all started during the Golden Globe Awards when the “queen of daytime” gave a well-delivered, rousing speech in which she declared how women need to stand up for themselves in the workplace and elsewhere. However noble-minded this space may have been, Bill Clinton rape victim Juanita Broaddrick called out how hypocritical it was for Oprah to give it.
After one person who follows Broaddrick on Twitter put up a picture of Oprah and former President Bill Clinton together, Juanita added, “Remember this @Oprah You’ve had so many opportunities to bring up my allegations, which have never been discredited. Why??”
Broaddrick then posted a link to a New York Times article that detailed how Winfrey tried to belittle a woman who was raped in New York’s Central Park. In the interview, Oprah said, “When I first heard about you, I thought, why were you running alone in Central Park at night?” Soon after, she added, “And believe me, I’m not sitting here trying to justify it. But the idea of running alone in Central Park is a foreign concept to me. You had to be the kind of person who either thought you were invincible or who was just nuts.” Do you think that Winfrey is the last person who should be acting like a defender of women against sex abuse?
