After President Trump’s brutal tweets against Mika Brzezinski, Mika and Joe claimed that President Trump once blackmailed them over a National Enquirer story. It was so ridiculous that even CNN was willing to call them out on it.
“We got a call that, hey, the National Enquirer is going to run a negative story against you guys, and…the president is friends with the guy who runs the National Enquirer. And they said: ‘If you call the president up, and you apologize for your coverage, then he will pick up the phone and, basically, spike this story,’” said Scarborough with no proof.
“I had, I will just say three people at the very top of the administration calling me, and the response was like, are you kidding me? I don’t know what they have. The calls kept coming and coming, and they were like: ‘Call. You need to call. Please call,’” said Scarborough.
The hosts at CNN found some serious holes in the story. “I think it will be interesting to see if Joe Scarborough, as he claims, was getting all of these phone calls, these weird phone calls from the White House. You’d imagine a seasoned broadcaster and former political official would record them,” said S.E. Cupp.
“If he didn’t, that’s a little odd to me. I’m wondering also why he sat on it for so long,” said Cupp. “I’ve asked the same questions for NBC,” said CNN host Brian Stelter. Check out the video below.
